About Mochi
Mochi is a lightweight, native macOS menu bar companion for monitoring autonomous AI coding agents — Claude Code, OpenClaw-managed agents, or anything else — running in the background. It answers one question at a glance: are my agents working, waiting, stuck, or done?
A 🍡 and an active-agent count sit in your menu bar. Open the popover and every agent gets a row: a small animated character whose face encodes its status, the agent's own identity as the title, the project and task it's on, and how long it's been at it.
Agents report in through a tiny mochi command-line tool and a file-based protocol — no server, no socket, no account, no network. Nothing leaves your machine.
Highlights
-
Agent overview
One popover shows every agent running right now, each with a small animated character whose face encodes its status.
-
Project context
Every row carries the agent's own identity and which project and task it's on — not just which runtime happens to be executing it.
-
Status at a glance
Working, waiting, done or stuck — colour and the menu bar icon are enough, no digging through terminal scrollback.
-
Background workflow
Lives entirely in the menu bar. Agents report in over a local, file-based protocol — no server, no account, nothing leaves the machine.
Report in from anything
Any script can call mochi start, mochi status, mochi attention, mochi done or mochi error. On top of that, optional adapters bridge Claude Code hooks and OpenClaw sessions into the same protocol. mochi demo runs six scripted agents through realistic states so you can see it working in seconds.
